The Bugs Won’t Pass! Battles with the Swarm Have Begun in Fortnite

With the start of the «Shock ‘N Awesome» season, they decided to add monster battles featuring insect-like creatures to the «battle royale» Fortnite. To clear the infested island of pests, teams of brave fighters must storm the hive, kill the bugs inside, and their queen. At the same time, they must keep an eye on the actions of rivals on the map—the main rules of the match remain unchanged. Let’s take a closer look at what awaits players in the game in the second half of summer.

Welcome to the infested island! On its territory, you’ll find several locations related to the invasion of giant insects. The first is the hive itself, where the alien invaders live. The next area is the RISK organization’s headquarters, where you can take missions and acquire weapons, especially effective against the bugs. Also worth noting are the «Ranger Ruins». Among the walls and buildings destroyed in fierce battles, careful explorers can find plenty of valuable items, including weapons and supplies. But in all these areas, you must stay vigilant, as the enemy is not idle—they’re looking for ways to ambush the heroes.

The bugs come in several types. The weakest and smallest enemy is the common swarmling. The exploder is already stronger. Such monsters guard the hive entrance and can burrow into the ground, acting like anti-personnel mines. The queen rules the swarm—she is the ultimate target of the assault. During the match, players can earn ratings, starting from C and going up to S+. The final score will depend on both success in firefights with live opponents and the number of pests eliminated. The shooter has added many thematic items, including the bug cannon, the roll-a-bug as a vehicle, and army fly swatters, among which is the triple minigun «Leadthrower 3000». For aerial attacks, RISK’s gyrocopters are available.
